What really is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a common, persistent skin disorder, characterized by patches of raised, red bumps covered with white, flaking scales. Normally, new skin cells are constantly produced in the deepest layer of the skin that typically takes about 28 days. However, in areas affected by psoriasis, new cells only take 3-4 days to reach the skin’s surface, and the accumulation of excess cells causes the characteristic scaly plaques.
